The surroundings

Bicycles are available to discover the village of Venat and its surroundings. Many farmhouse porches, fountains and wash houses were preserved and reflect the intense activity of wineries and market gardens during the past century.

At the end of the village, a beautiful chestnut planted alley leads to the Château de la Pouyade and Ecurie de la Forêt.

The coulée verte is an old towpath. It runs along the Charente river for nearly 20 km and on to the city of Angouleme.

Arriving beneath Angouleme, a white city clinging to its promontory, the view is amazing.
